1. Chairperson Opening Remarks
Mr. Ma gave a brief introduction about the WUWM Congress in Guiyang and asked the members’ opinion about this congress and the concerning issues for their local and regional markets.
2. Free Discussion
①Mr. Tarakorn Angpubate firstly shared the information about hosting the WUWM Congress in 2021 in Thailand and warmly welcomed all the members visit Talaad Thai Market.
②Dr. Yadav came up with the investment problem that why the investment from Europe and North America goes to China, South Africa and Australia other than other countries in Asia-Pacific region, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippine and India. Besides, he questioned the phenomenon that the wholesale markets in the countries mentioned above have no comprehensive plans and each of them is isolated.
③Mr Bradley of Sydney Markets expressed his concern about the export of Australian agricultural products and looked forward to the collaboration with other countries to deal with the challenges in the future.
④Mr. Kang Choi from South Korea said that he welcomed some experience and suggestions about construction of wholesale markets in Asian countries.
⑤Mr. Jhalak Lal Shrestha gave a brief introduction to his wholesale market, elaborated their business in Nepal and were happy to exchange views and opinions in managing and constructing wholesale markets.
To sum up, Mr. Ma Zengjun expressed that as the Chairman of WUWM and APRG, he hoped that according to the international conference and cooperation during his term, the problems, including capital shortage, wholesale market construction, management and operation, policies and so on, raised by the different level of members could be solved in a proper and effective way. During this WUWM Guiyang Congress, we highlighted 2 points: the first one is the application of E-commerce in wholesale market, and the second one is the cooperation between international wholesale markets. In the WUWM congress in Thailand in 2021, we will further promote the regional cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries.
3. Proposals
①To facilitate the regional cooperation, we may set up an email group or WeChat group for better daily communication.
②We should pay more attention to the APRG website promotion; TheWorking Group Committee of APRG should be put into operation by 2021 WUWM Congress in Thailand.
③An Asia Pacific Expert Group was proposed to be set up to serve members in the Asia Pacific region; As the Chairman of CAWA in China, Mr. Ma said that the Chinese market is willing to strengthen cooperation with other wholesale markets all over the world in market construction and market management.
④The working mechanism of the Asia Pacific Working Group Committee should be determined in May 2020.
⑤It is proposed to resume the Asia Pacific working group meeting and the Asia Pacific Regional Conference. If the WUWM conference is held in other continents apart from Asia, wemay host a separate Asia-Pacific Regional Conferenceto discuss the common problems faced by members in the Asia Pacific region. By this way, more local wholesale marketsin this region are expected to join WUWM.
⑥It is recommended that members of APRGhosts at least one video conference or online training meeting every year.
⑦It is suggested to establish E-commerce working group in WUWM.
4. Results
①All the presenters joint the WeChat working group for daily communication.
②Presenters agreed to join the E-commerce working group in WUWM.
